Description:

Designed in 1983 to be the pinnacle of competition shooting pistols. Paul Sokolovsky's design has become one of the rarest semi-automatic pistols ever produced. The NRA museum houses three examples, a tool room prototype, a pre-production prototype, and a production version. The consignor knows of one other example in a museum but knows of no others. Paul Sokolovsky designed these pistols to be the cleanest looking, best shooting target pistols on the market. An included write-up on the pistol states this example came from the collection of one of the men making the guns and parts at the factory who was good friends with Sokolovksy. The exterior of the gun lacks pins and screws found on typical .45 caliber pistols, opting instead for what can only be described as a multi trigger system. On the left and right of the firing trigger are shorter triggers, the left being the magazine release and the right being the safety. The barrel is held in place with a pinless linkage system allowing the pistol to have unmatched accuracy for its time. The pistol is fitted with a serrated Patridge blade style front and adjustable target rear sights. Behind the serrations, the slide is marked "Sokolovsky Corp./Sunnyvale, Ca./U.S.A." on the left and "Sokolovsky .45/Automaster" on the right. The frame is marked "Patent No. 4,203,348" on the left and "-1st Edition No. 2 of 50-" on the right. The frame is fitted with presentation quality walnut grips. Included with the pistol are a factory presentation case, leather cover, prints of company job cards, prints of the blueprints for the pistol, and several articles which are either about or mention the pistol (some of which are in German).

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with the most minimal handling marks, and crisp markings. Grips are very fine with a couple light indentations on both panels. Mechanically excellent. Case and bag are very fine. This is your more than likely once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make this metaphorical white whale of semi-automatic pistols the centerpiece of your collection!
