Manufactured c. 1860s. It is marked "KRIDER PHILADA" on the barrel, "KRIDER" on the lock, and what is likely "J KRIDER PHILADA" inside the patchbox. The lock and barrel markings are stamped with uneven letters rather than as single stamps as would be expected for a Krider rifle. The lock and the silver and German silver furniture have scroll engraving. The rifle is equipped with a 36 1/8 inch long tube sight with post and notch sights on top, an adjustable single set trigger, taps for rear sight mounting on the breech plug and breech end of the barrel, and a half-length stock with pewter forend cap and checkered wrist. Includes a pistol sized wood case with a reproduction Krider label inside the lid, a false muzzle and starter, a few bullets and balls, a powder flask, a screwdriver, a mold for round balls and short conical bullets, cap tin, a globe front sight, and an adjustable rear sight.
