According to Flayderman's Guide, only 25 of these "cloverleaf" revolving shotguns were manufactured in the 1860s-1870s. These were split into two different versions: one with a solid frame like this one and another version with a hinged frame. The barrel has an adjustable choke ring and bead front sight. "S.H. ROPER" is marked on the plate on the top of the action. It is equipped with a smooth forearm with horn tip and a finely figured, straight wrist buttstock with a shotgun buttplate and 12 3/4 inch length of pull to the firing trigger. Very fine with 75% plus of the lightly fading original blue finish remaining, smooth patina on the balance, some minor marks and scratches, and fairly minimal overall wear. The wood is fine and has beautiful figure, some scattered minor dings and scratches, some stabilized cracks and knots in the wrist, and minor chip on the right side of the forend cap. The cocking mechanism and trigger are mechanically fine. The cylinder must be manually rotated.
