Cased Civil War Era Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver

This revolver was manufactured in 1863 during the middle of the American Civil War. It may have been privately purchased as a sidearm for a Union soldier or officer, and features a brass cone front sight, the one-line New York address, "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side of the frame, "8" on the left side of the trigger guard, the classic Naval Battle of Campeche cylinder roll scene, and matching serial numbers on the wedge, arbor pin, cylinder, loading lever, barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. It comes in a custom hardwood case with a reproduction Colt patent marked powder flask, a nipple wrench, and an Eely cap tin.

ConditionFine with 75% plus of the original, vibrant case colors remaining on the frame, loading lever, and hammer; 25% original silver plating, 70% plus original bright blue finish remaining on the barrel, 20% original blue on the cylinder, smooth gray and brown patina on the balance, broken wedge spring, and numerous minor dings and scratches throughout. The grip is also fine and has the vast majority of the original "piano varnish" remaining, mild handling and edge wear, and minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. The relined custom case is missing the keyhole escutcheon and has mild wear.
