Also known as the Model No. 2, this later production Type I derringer was manufactured circa 1868. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the two line address, "E REMINGTON & SONS ILION, N.Y./ELLIOTS PATENT DEC. 12TH 1865," and the serial number is marked on the bottom of the barrel and on the frame under the left grip panel. These were the last series of over/under derringers numbered in sequential order until much later Remington-U.M.C. production. The sides of the frame, back strap, and breech end of the upper barrels are engraved with flourishes of floral scroll. It is fitted with smooth rosewood grips.

Very good, retains strong traces of the original blue finish in sheltered areas with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina with a few scattered patches of very light surface pitting. The grips are good with extensive scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
