Panel Scene Engraved and Gold Inlaid Renkin Brothers Double Barrel Percussion Shotgun

Renkin Brothers exhibited arms at the Great Exhibition in London in 1851 and were active in the mid-19th century. It features a bead front sight, "Fine Laminated Steel Barrels" in ornate script on the concave rib, fluting in the breech section, gold bands at the breech, a gold dog head vignette on the standing breech, gold inlaid dogs and birds on the locks along with "RENKIN BROTHERS, LIEGE" in gold inlay, pair of gold deer on the trigger guard, scroll and floral engraving, a gold pheasant on the heel, checkered wrist, some nice figure and grain, and 14 inch length of pull. Provenance: The Malcolm B. Troup, Captain, US Army, Retired Collection

ConditionVery good with mostly bright original gold inlays, mottled gray and brown patina on the balance, light twist patterns on the barrels, moderate oxidation mainly at the breech and forward section of the barrels as well as the hammers, and general mild overall wear from use and age. The stock is fair and has distinct checkering on the wrist, general scratches and dings, minor checks, and a few spots of minor flaking. Mechanically fine.
