This unmarked rifle utilizes a horizontally oriented 12-shot turret and is fired using a double action bar hammer style action that rotates the turret as the trigger is pulled allowing for rapid fire. It likely dates to the 1830-1840s. The rifled barrel ha a tiny brass blade front sight and a rear sight with two folding leaves is fitted on top of the action at the rear. The rifle features a full-length forend, ramrod, and smooth buttstock with a brass buttplate. This is a very innovative design produced by an unknown gunsmith. Good. The metal throughout has a dark gray-brown patina, some patches of mild oxidation/light pitting, and general mild overall wear. The wood is very good and has scattered scratches, dings, and scuffs; a few small chips, and general mild overall wear. The action is functional but appears to need some work to get the proper hammer fall and timing.
