One of approximately 9,000 manufactured from 1870 to 1890. It has the standard two-line address and "No2" model marking on the top barrel flat flanked by Maltese crosses. It proudly exhibits, factory deluxe, full "C" coverage, floral scroll engraving. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, bottom of the barrel, and appears to be faintly marked in pencil inside each grip panel. It has standard features and is fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips. This specific derringer is pictured on p. 393 of "The Book of Colt Engraving Volume I" by R.L. Wilson were this profuse engraving design is noted as possibly the work of the L.D. Nimschke shop. Provenance: The Herb Glass Collection; The George S. Lewis Jr. Collection

Very fine, retains 90% plus of the original nickel finish with a few scattered patches of light flaking and the engraving remaining crisp. The grips are very fine with the left panel slightly undersized and a few short minor cracks at the top of the right panel. Mechanically excellent.
