Manufactured in 1915-1916 with the standard two-line address, patent date, and caliber marking on the top of the slide and the Savage trademark on the left of the frame. This is one of only approximately 1,150 purchased by the Portuguese government for issue to military officers. It is fitted with blade and notch sights, a lanyard loop on the butt, and a pair of rare Portuguese crest, checkered, hard rubber grips. Includes a very scarce, correct, factory box with labels in Portuguese. Provenance: The Bailey Brower, Jr. Collection, author of “Savage Pistols”
Excellent, retains 90% plus of the original blue finish with some scattered light speckling throughout and some light handling/edge wear. The grips are very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some light wear, mostly on edges.
