Since 1835 Holland & Holland has been a leader in the fine arms industry, building guns and rifles for many well-known individuals including many members of European nobility and in the case of this pair, American actor, ardent Second Amendment supporter, and former NRA board member Tom Selleck. Blued steel barrels with a single nickel bead sight on the smooth concave solid rib whichis marked "Model De Luxe" along with a nicely border engraved gold inlaid "1" at the base and "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and "33. BRUTON STREET. LONDON." address marked on the right and left barrels respectively. The barrels show 1986 dated standard London nitro proofs and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The coin finished self-opening sidelock action displays magnificent decoration consisting of outstanding highly detailed banknote style engraved game scenes surrounded by rich flowering scrollwork sitting atop a highly contrasting matted background which extends to the triggerguard, the toplever which has a gold inlaid "1", and both tangs, the bottom of which has the serial number inlaid in gold. The action is signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 1835-1985" on both sides representing the company's sesquicentennial. The left lockplate displays a pair of woodcocks in flight over a barren winter forest scenes, the right lockplate has a pair of rooster pheasants flushing from a corn field, and the underside shows the profile bust of a handsome setter. The gun is signed by two artists: first the setter scene is signed at the lower right "McDuff", and the triggerplate is signed "Ph. Grifnee" for the highly regarded and world renowned late Master Engraver Philippe Grifnee. The gun features double triggers, right hand rolled triggerguard, gold centerline cocking indicators, and a tang mounted automatic safety switch with gold inlaid "SAFE" marking. Exceptionally well-figured, multi-point checkered splinter forend with engraved fittings, including the Anson button style release which also bears a gold inlaid "1". The straight grip stock is of the same superb quality with teardrop carved drop points, "T.W.S./1985" (Thomas William Selleck) marked in the silver inscription oval, and a finely checkered bare butt. Included are two oak & leather takedown cases capable of housing both guns, one is a trunk style case with canvas cover, the other also has a canvas cover marked "T.W.S." and contains a full compliment of accessories including nickel oiler, nickel snap caps, cleaning rods, and rosewood turn-screws. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proved at .614 inches and measured .615/.617 inches; choke constriction .009/.017 inches; minimum wall thickness .027/.025 inches; 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 5/16 inch drop at heel; 16 1/4 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 13 oz.

Very similar to "A" with "2"s in place of "1"s and alternate engraving. This guns engraving displays the same rich scrollwork surrounding a trio of snipes in flight over grain on the left, a trio of flushing quail on the right, and a spaniel bust on the underside which is signed "Topper" along with Philippe Grifnee's "Ph. Grifnee" on the triggerplate. McDuff and Topper were the names of Tom Selleck's dogs.
