This highly attractive deluxe variation of Marlin's famed Model 1893 lever action rifle was manufactured in 1904. Model 1893s were a "working man's gun" and few customers were willing to pay extra for deluxe features. These deluxe models are becoming difficult to find, especially those in high condition like this example. The rifle is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel stamped with the two-line address/patent dates marking and "30-30" on the top flat and "SPECIAL SMOKELESS STEEL" on the upper left flat. "MARLIN SAFETY" is stamped on top of the casehardened frame. The upper tang is marked "MODEL/1893." The serial number is on the underside of the frame. The rifle has a half magazine tube. It is mounted on a checkered forearm and pistol grip stock. The stock is fitted with a crescent buttplate.
Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance and a few patches of pitting near the rear sight. The frame retains 95% vivid original case colors. The hammer, lever, and buttplate retain 85% original case colors. 95% original niter blue remains on the loading gate. The wood is also excellent with some minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
