Brand-Style Harpoon Gun
Developed in the 19th century, the harpoon launcher replaced the old hand-thrown whaler's harpoon with a shoulder-fired weapon of superior range and striking power. While not marked, this launcher follows the distinctive profile of the Brand model, with it's full-metal construction and skeletonized buttstock, weighing in at 22 pounds, 10.2 ounces. Bead front and notch rear sights, with an iron ramrod beneath the barrel. One harpoon is included, measuring 21 inches in length, with a cylindrical body and a three-sided angular head.

Barnett Marked Percussion Swivel Gun
Some of these guns have been dated to the late 1840s-1860s and are believed to have been mounted to Royal Navy ships. The Barnett family were major suppliers to the British government as well as the Confederacy and fur trade. The barrel has a roughly 1 inch bore that flares to 2 3/8 inches at the muzzle and a single "crown/cross scepter" proof, and the lock is marked "BARNETT/LONDON" at the center. An iron swivel mount is fitted through the forend, and the stock has "BARNETT/GUNMAKERS/LONDON" in an oval on the right side of the buttstock and "JW" (first letter unsure) on the tail of the left flat.

Lot 1500
Inland M1 Carbine with Presentation Inscribed Case
This is an attractive late WWII M1 Carbine manufactured by the General Motors Corp, that is currently fitted with a exceptional set of slightly fancy "Tiger Striped" walnut stock and handguard set. That comes with one of the Inland factory hinged walnut display/storage cases that has small brass presentation name plate affixed on top of the lid. On the plate there is a facsimile of a signature: "Joseph C. SXXXXXXX" with the last name being unreadable, however certainly authentic and worth of further investigation. During the later stages of WWII the General Motors/Inland Div. designated several M1 carbines to be presented to senior members of the military as well as executives within the General Motors Corp. This carbine has the standard "U.S. CARBINE/M1" markings on the front receiver ring with the correct "INLAND DIV" over serial number on the rear ring and the barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV/GENERAL MOTORS" 2-44. It still retains the original type two barrel band without a bayonet lug marked "II" on the side. It is also fitted with a blued late production round blued bolt, marked "IO on the side of the lug, the late milled and adjustable rear sight, marked "HI", a late production M2 operating slide (correct for this time frame) marked "P" in a box inside the bottom of the slide. It is fitted with the correct type three trigger guard with the standing "INLAND" marking facing the rear of the trigger guard. Internally it is fitted with a smooth push button safety, a "M" marked M1 magazine release , a "HI" marked hammer and blued internal components. It is fitted with an early WWII type, low wood, oval oiler slot M2 walnut stock. It is marked "HI" in the sling slot. It also comes with an early two rivet, low profile "IO" marked walnut handguard. As noted it is complete with one of the original factory walnut display case with a small brass name plaque with four very small holding it on the lid. It also comes with a 5 shot blued magazine, a 1913 three piece brass cleaning rod, a blued, 30 round magazine a 1923 Kerr No-Buckle sling and a WWII olive green sling with the correct "U" clips on the ends.
