Manufacturing began in 1870. This pair are both of the Second Type, featuring the short high hammers and serial numbers only 17 digits apart. Both have the standard italic Colt marking on top of the barrel and small British proofs on the bottom, with the serial numbers marked on the left side of the grip frames. The butts of both pistols have an additional number added "A980" and "A979" on the "A" and "B" respectively. The grips on both are hand numbered on the inside of both panels to match their respective guns. Includes an unmarked hardwood case fitted for the pair.

Extremely fine, retains 90% plus of the original nickel finish with some minor flaking concentrated on the left of the barrel. The grips are fine with some minor flaking of the varnish on the right panel and otherwise minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some scattered light handling/storage marks and a hairline crack in the lid.
