Measuring 14 5/8 inches overall, with a 9 3/4 inch long stiletto-style blade with a needle point, diamond blade cross-section leading down to a 2 1/2 inch lozenge cross-section ricasso, with wire etched decoration. The hilt is constructed from either antique ivory or bone, with the 4 1/2 inch wide crossguard bearing leaf decoration and the cylindrical grip adorned with a crown over three fleur-de-lis in an oval, a traditional symbol of France. The sheath is of similar construction with a tapered, conical profile, and elaborately carved including busts of four French kings; Francois II (reign 1559-1560), Charles IX (reign 1560-1574), Henri III (reign 1574-1589) and Henri IV (reign 1589-1610).
