Manufactured in 1877, the standard two-line Colt address on top of the barrel, "COLT NEW 38" in an etched panel on the left, and the patent date on the bottom. The left of the frame is marked "38CAL", and there are small British proofs on the bottom of the barrel and cylinder. The matching serial number is on the left of the grip frame and bottom of the barrel, and "072" is on the rear face of the cylinder. It is fitted with smooth rosewood grips. Includes a leather wrapped hard case and five .38 RF cartridges.
Exceptionally fine, retains 95% plus of the unpolished, frosted, original nickel finish with some scattered patches of light frosting and a well-defined etched panel. The grips are very fine with some scattered light handling marks and retaining most of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some mild wear.
