Colt Python Factory Sample Florida Fish & Game Special Edition

Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter, this revolver was a sample and display handgun of special edition issue kept by the Colt factory. The letter also confirms the Florida Fish & Game Edition markings and features (barrel, caliber, finish, etched motifs) on this revolver with the exception of checkered grips (present grips are smooth). Complete with Colt "wood grain" box with Custom Shop end label numbered to gun and the notation "Archive". The included packing list also confirms revolver was placed in archives. Documented Colt Factory Firearms Collection Display Number "1 of 235" Gold Etched Colt Python Colorado State Patrol 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Double Action Revolver with Original Box and Factory Letter

Colt Python Factory Firearms Collection 1 of 235

Produced from 1955 to 2005, this revolver was manufactured in 1985 as a special limited edition for the Colorado State Patrol. The factory letter states that this revolver "was kept by the Colt Factory as a sample and display revolver of special edition issue". Features ramp front and adjustable rear sights on a vent rib barrel with a checkered hammer spur, non-fluted cylinder with beveled front edge and serrated trigger and rear grip strap. Fitted with smooth wraparound rosewood grips with gold plated rampant Colt medallion inlays on each side. The right side of the barrel is marked with the standard one-line Colt address followed by "PYTHON 357/357 MAGNUM CTG". "CSP 1 of 235" is marked on the lower frame. The right side of the barrel features gold floral border scroll etching forming a box around "1935 - COLORADO STATE PATROL - 1985". The image of a Colorado State Patrol badge and similar floral gold etching is on the left rear of the frame directly beneath the cylinder latch. Complete with papers/manual and Colt woodgrain box with Colt Custom Gun Shop end label numbered to the gun. The accompanying factory letter also verifies the serial number, caliber, non-fluted cylinder, royal blue finish, rosewood grips with gold plated Rampant Colt medallions, gold etching, and "wood grain" box with Custom Shop end label. Colt Python Double Action Revolver Factory Show Gun

Orange blade front and white outline adjustable rear sights, standard model, caliber and address markings on the barrel, Rampant Colt on the frame, wide checkered hammer, serrated trigger and checkered Pachmayr "Gripper" grips with Colt medallions. With a Colt wood grain box hand numbered to gun, with note "Deactivated", and a factory letter which confirms the features and states this revolver was retained by Colt as a sample piece for gun shows. Manufactured in the first year of production and shipped to Abercrombie & Fitch of New York on November 16, 1956, as confirmed in the included factory letter. Standard markings, with a serrated pinned ramp front and adjustable square notch rear sight. Checkered wide spur hammer, serrated trigger, serrated back strap and a shrouded ejector rod with the deeply counter bored shroud. Fitted with the original checkered walnut grips with gold Rampant Colt medallions. With un-numbered replacement Colt Python box.

Colt Python Revolver Howard Dove Signed Exhibition Quality

Offered here is a fantastic piece of Colt firearm art by famed Master Engraver Howard Dove (1942-1994). Dove signed his extensively engraved and gold embellished masterpiece on the left side of the grip frame: "HMD." Originally manufactured in 1978, this revolver exhibits highly embellished American patriotic themes and was featured on the cover of the "2017 Standard Catalog of Firearms" and fully described on page 13. This well-known firearm price guide is included. The accompanying March 4, 1986, letter from Harbans Singh on Art Jewel Enterprises, Ltd. Letterhead confirms that the engraving and gold inlay was done by Master Engraver Howard Dove and the two-piece grips and grip cap were embellished by Master Engraver Leonard Francolini. The work was commissioned by an individual from California and completed by Art Jewel Enterprises. A fine floral scroll engraving on a punch dot background that is accented with gold inlaid borders covers nearly all of the surfaces. Even the sides of the trigger and hammer are engraved. The gold inlaid patriotic iconography includes an eagle holding a "CREATED BY GOD" banner on the left side of the barrel, an eagle holding a "PROTECTED BY COLT" banner on the right side of the barrel, the Statue of Liberty and Liberty Bell on the frame and the famed Iwo Jima flag rising and Archibald Willard's painting "The Spirit of '76" (aka "Yankee Doodle") surrounded by 13 stars on the non-fluted cylinder. The trigger guard has "COLT" in gold, and a gold inlaid geometric line and dot pattern is featured on the barrel and ejector housing at the muzzle. The two-piece wraparound grip features a Rampant Colt engraved on an inlaid gold oval, a gold inlaid engraved Armsmear crest and raised gold Fleur De Lis. The butt cap has a raised silver shield and gold rearing snake on a matte background, a line of raised gold stars above engraved scrollwork around the screw heads and silver bands that read "DIVIDED WE FALL" and "UNITED WE STAND." The back of the butt cap is signed by Francolini. It has standard Colt factory barrel markings, a gold-plated front sight and a full adjustable gold outlined square notch rear sight. The exhibition grade rosewood case has Colt themed inlays on the exterior of the lid, and the interior of the case is French fitted in red velvet and holds a matching set of tools.

Confirmed by the included Colt factory letter this prototype Python revolver was kept by the Colt factory as a sample of electroless nickel finish. The letter also confirms the caliber, 6" barrel with standard markings, electroless nickel finish with blue finished cylinder and sights, and without stocks. The left side of the frame has the Rampant Colt. With pinned blade front and adjustable rear sights, serrated trigger, and checkered wide hammer spur. Complete with a maroon Colt "Heritage of Craftsmanship" box with Custom Shop end label numbered to the gun. Provenance: Colt Factory Archive Collection.

This is an excellent example of a very difficult to find Colt 150th Anniversary "Double Diamond" set that includes both the Colt Officers ACP pistol and the Colt Python revolver in the original Colt display case. This set is number 781 of 1,000 sets that were manufactured in 1986. The Python has standard markings and features. Includes a glass top cherry wood display case fitted to the guns with a black velvet interior and inset 2 1/2 inch brass and blue enamel Colt 150th Anniversary medallion. Complete with the original boxes and papers.

Elaborately Engraved Colt Python Double Action Revolver with Presentation Case

This uniquely custom engraved Python features tight detailed floral scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds, and checkerboard patterns on the rib stands with standard markings, and a Grumman F4F Wildcat on the right side of the frame. The underside of the barrel is marked "B/G/07" as is the right side of the grip frame. With a red leather bound display case with hardwood trim and brown suede lining. The case lid is marked "TO BRIGADIER GENERAL JOE FOSS/FOUNDER OF THE SOUTH DAKOTA/AIR NATIONAL GUARD/FROM ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE 175th". It is unlikely this revolver was presented to Foss personally as he passed away in 2003. Foss, a highly decorated WWII U.S. fighter Ace pilot and Medal of Honor recipient, was ordered in 1946 to form the South Dakota Air National Guard and became Commanding Officer for the Guard's 175th Fighter-Interceptor squadron. After military service, Foss went on to serve two terms as a Republican South Dakota state representative, and was elected Governor in 1955.
