Belgian Browning BAR Grade V Rifle
The Grade V rifles were only manufactured from 1971 to 1974, with this rifle being manufactured in 1971. This example features a tapered barrel manufactured with beaded blade front and adjustable folding leaf rear sights. The left side near the breech is marked with the one line address over "MADE IN BELGIUM", and the caliber designation and "BROWNING PATENTS" are on the right side. Each side of the receiver is engraved with scenes with three gold inlaid animals (antelope on the left, deer on the right) with a gold inlaid wire border. The receiver is topped with a Leupold Vari-X 2x7 scope. Surrounding the scenes is a floral vine design with a punch dot background. The same floral vine design is on the bottom of the magazine and trigger guard. The lower left side of the receiver is signed "M. Magis". The top of the receiver has a matte finish and is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting. The high gloss walnut forearm and stock wrist are finely checkered with relief carved floral vine designs.

Factory Engraved Gold Inlaid Belgian Browning BAR Grade V Rifle
The Grade V rifles were only manufactured from 1971 to 1974, with this rifle being manufactured in 1972. This example features a tapered barrel manufactured with no sights. The left side near the breech is marked with the one line address over "MADE IN BELGIUM", and the caliber designation and "BROWNING PATENTS" are on the right side. Each side of the receiver is engraved with scenes with four gold inlaid animals (elk on the left and moose on the right) with a gold inlaid wire border. Surrounding the scenes is a floral vine design with a punch dot background. The same floral vine design is on the bottom of the magazine and trigger guard. The lower left side of the receiver is signed "J.M. Debrus" for FN master engraver Jean Marie Debrus. The top of the receiver has a matte finish and is factory drilled and tapped for scope mounting (one tap screw installed). Mounted in a beautifully figured, vine and punch dot carved, checkered walnut pistol grip stock and forearm.

The blued action displays full coverage scroll engraving on punch dot background surrounding game bird scenes showing a trio of pheasant on the left, three mallards on the right, and a quail on the underside. The birds are rendered in fine semi-relief gold inlay with gold inlaid borders around the scenes. The receiver is signed "ACROUSSE" on the left hand side at the rear. The left side shows a moose in a marsh setting and the right has an elk bugling in a forested scene. The bottom metal shows the same floral scroll engraving with a standing grizzly bear engraved on the magazine floorplate and a mountain lion on the trigger guard. The gun is signed "F.MARECHAL" on both the left and right sides of the receiver ring and on the floorplate for Browning Master Engraver Francoise Marechal. The gun is mounted in a beautifully figured, fancy checkered walnut stock with contrasting forend tip, "R.C.R." in an inscription diamond on the contrasting grip cap, and ventilated browning recoil pad.

Manufactured in 1961. Standard barrel markings and Belgian proofs. The attractively grayed receiver body features fine floral and scroll engraving on a darkened background with a bugling elk on the left of the front ring and a pronghorn on the right. The floorplate is engraved with a white-tailed deer in dense vegetation. The trigger guard features a bear surrounded by floral scroll. The rifle is signed "L.Egiers" on the right side of the receiver ring, "R. DEWIL" on the floor plate and "GC" likely the initials of master engraver G. Cargnel. Mounted in an exceptionally well figured pistol grip stock with fine checkering, floral carved accented borders, contrasting rosewood forend and grip caps, gold diamond on the grip end, raised cheek piece, and vented Pachmayr White Line recoil pad.

With a single steel bead sight on the matte rib. The barrels are marked "BROWNING SA MADE IN BELGIUM" and "CAL 20 SA SHELLS 2 3/4" on the right and left respectively. The flats display faint Belgian proofs. The receiver is a gray coin finish with highly detailed game bird engravings on the sides and bottom, each with a highly detailed background and flowing scroll border. The receiver fences have been deeply relief engraved with a classic oak leaf and acorn motif. Originally manufactured in 1966 and subsequently masterfully embellished by Firearms Engravers Guild of America Master Engraver Richard Hambrook. This stunning shotgun is pictured on page 113 of "American Engravers III: Masterpieces in Metal by American Engraving Artisans" by C. Roger Bleile. This exceptional engraved Superposed features added side plates with highly detailed game bird scenes of a pair of quail in flight over a field on the right and two pheasants in a wooded upland farm scene on the left. The backgrounds are fine line engraved and highly detailed. The individual birds are rendered in a combination of yellow gold, silver, and rose gold with borders of flowing broad leaf scroll with stunning contrasting gold inlay over the blackened background. Nearly every visible surface of the receiver, trigger guard, and forearm fittings is covered in fine gold inlaid broad leafy scroll with punch dot shading, intricate border details, and a small dog scene on the underside showing a retriever holding a quail in his mouth. The toplever shows a single woodcock in flight is great detail surrounded by a gold border. The near full coverage scrollwork is not just extensive, it beautifully follows and flows with the lines and curviture of the action in a way that only an extremely skilled hand can accomplish. The trigger plate is signed "R. Hambrook-Engraver" on the right side. The forend and round knob pistol grip buttstock are beautifully figured walnut with fine leafy scroll carved accents and scalloped carved borders surrounding the fancy multi-point checkering. The bare butt is carved and checkered to match the other gripping surfaces of the stock and forearm. With a single gold bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, improved modified/modified chokes, single selective gold washed trigger, and sliding tang safety/selector.
