Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co P.08 Pistol 9 mm Luger
This is a beautiful example of a 1937 dated Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff pistol. These early Krieghoff Lugers have the typical high polish commercial blue finish with the straw colored small parts with the distinctive brown checkered grips. The Krieghoff luger was the only officially inspected, accepted, and approved Luger that was used by the Luftwaffe throughout WWII. The total numbers of Krieghoff pistols actually produced for the Luftwaffe during WWII are estimated at approximately 13,000, with only 2,500 total produced in 1937. Which makes the survival rate of these pistols extremely low in comparison to the standard WWII Luger pistol. The top of the chamber area has the 1937 date with the " H-K anchor/Krieghoff/Suhl" logo on front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension and left side of the barrel has the early drooped-wing Luftwaffe Eagle firing proof next to the double "Eagle/2" acceptance proof, which is also located on the front edge of the frame rail. The underside of the barrel has the full serial number, along with the "Eagle/2" proof and the bore diameter. It is serial numbered in the military style with the full serial number on the barrel and barrel extension, frame and magazine, with the last two digits of the serial number on the small parts such as the side plate, the breech bolt and the side of the toggle assembly. The extractor and ejector are marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. It is complete with one original and matching Krieghoff nickel plated magazine with the aluminum base that carries the pistol serial number and a small "Eagle/2 proof".

Krieghoff 1943 Luftwaffe Luger, 2x Matching Mags, Holster
Manufactured on contract for the Luftwaffe, this is a scare Heinrich Krieghoff produced Luger pistol. A sporting firm at heart, Krieghoff turned in a quality product with their Luger, impressing the Luftwaffe enough to win additional contracts to produce machine guns and impressing both military inspectors and later collectors with their fine fit and finish. Fixed sights, with the "1943" date on the chamber and the Krieghoff dagger/anchor logo (C-2 die pattern) on the front toggle link. "Eagle/2" proofs are present on multiple components, with an "882" bore diameter measurement on the barrel, "GESICHERT/GELADEN" safe/loaded marks, straw colored small parts, and checkered grips. Included with the pistol are two extra magazines, both extruded "fxo/P.08" blued with alloy bases marked "eagle/2/11533" (note: no "+" mark on either magazine), as well as a black leather flap holster with "eagle/2" markings on the interior and a small "eagle/2" marked takedown tool.

Lot 636
Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co Luger Pistol 9 mm Luger
This is a beautiful example of an all original, unaltered and very rare 1943 dated military contract Krieghoff Luger, that is complete with the original matching magazine and an exceptional late 1942 dated black Luger holster. These Krieghoff Lugers have always been a highly sought after pistol based on their very low production rates and unusually high quality of the fit and finish. The Krieghoff Lugers were exclusively manufactured for the German Luftwaffe and it is estimated that only a total of 300 Krieghoff Lugers were produced in 1943. The serial number range of those Lugers starts at approximately 11,300, making this specific luger one of the fairly early production models. The top of the chamber is correctly dated "1943" and the front toggle (which has the correct matching numbers on the underside) has a late production C-2 style Krieghoff marking that has the smaller "C" style radii anchor with the right point touching the bottom of the "K" with the left point just slightly outside of the anchor, as shown on page 83 of the "Krieghoff Parabellum"; in the right column fourth picture down. The right side of the barrel extension has the 1st "Lwa" stage II early proof next to the stage II mid-proof, and then the final acceptance proof. The underside of the barrel has the bore diameter, over the "LWa2" acceptance proof over the matching serial number of "11392". The breechblock has the correct Luftwaffe acceptance proofs on each side and is correctly number "92" on the left side. The side plate, trigger and take down latch all have the correct matching last two digits of the serial number "92". It is fitted with the correct late production Mauser style black bakelite coarse checkered plastic grips that are unmarked on the backside. As noted it is complete with an original blued "122" marked aluminum base magazine that has the Haenel "eagle/37" proof on the top and bottom area of the magazine body. The aluminum base is correctly numbered "11392" along with a single "Lwa" proof on the bottom. It is complete with a exceptionally nice, very late production 1942 dated black Luger holster. The backside is marked with a double stamped "jtn 1942/WaA145/P08".

Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co P.08 Pistol 9 mm Luger
This is a fine original example of a "Krieghoff" P.08 Luger that was manufactured in 1936. During this year it is estimated that approximately 2,900 pistols in total were manufactured with the full "1936" year markings. This example has copies of capture papers dated May 1946. Krieghoff was the primarily supplier to the Luftwaffe during WWII, and their pistols are prized for their fine fit and finish. As noted, this has the "1936" dated chamber, and the front toggle is marked with the C-1, 1936 pattern "H, anchor, K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL", where the "Krieghoff" name runs from the full left side to the right side of the top of the toggle. The left side of the barrel extension has the serial number on the frame and the right side has the Krieghoff "Eagle/2," "Eagle" firing proof and "Eagle/2" proof. The right side of the barrel also has the same "Eagle/2" proof. The underside of the barrel has the bore diameter and the correct serial number "6748" but with a much smaller size and style of serial numbers. It is fitted with the correct WWII Krieghoff fine checkered brown plastic grips with the smooth borders. It is complete with two matching nickel plated magazines with the aluminum bases correctly marked on each base with a single inverted Luftwaffe "Eagle/2" proof over serial number "6748". These Lugers have the distinctive Krieghoff high polish blue finish with the straw colored small parts. This Luger is complete with an early unmarked brown commercial military style holster with a single "Eagle/2" proofmark on the inside against the back part and a correct "Eagle/2" proofed takedown tool.

Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co - Luger
This is a very rare early Krieghoff production "S" code German Luger as manufactured in limited quantities for the Luftwaffe. This Luger is marked with the "S-Code" over the chamber which was the code indicating manufacture in 1936. The pistol is fitted with the very early B-2 die toggle markings of the "H (anchor) K" over "SUHL" with no Krieghoff name. This early variation was used on only the first 2,500 Krieghoff Lugers. It has the standard "S" code marking over the chamber. It has the full serial number (928) stamped on the front of the frame, the left side of the receiver, and breechblock. The barrel has the bore diameter and the very early 1st stage "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance proof but no serial number which is correct for this variation. The last two digits (28) of the serial number are stamped on the side plate, front and rear toggle assembly, trigger, take down lever, side plate and right grip panel. The left grips is stamped with serial number "25". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the large "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe acceptance mark followed by the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof. The left side of the breechblock is marked with the Luftwaffe Eagle firing proof followed by the "Eagle/2" acceptance proof which is also stamped on the rear toggle. It is fitted with a later blued Mauser folded metal magazine with an aluminum base that is stamped: "7297/m/+/Eagle 63". In this "S" code variation only 4,000 total pistols were produced in total in 1936 with only 2,500 having these early features.

Krieghoff 'G' (1935) Luftwaffe Luger Pistol, S/N 10
Manufactured in 1935, during Nazi Germany's clandestine re-armament program, the "G" dated run of Krieghoff Lugers, serial numbers 1-100, represent the firm's first real entry into military armament production. A sporting arms firm both before and after Hitler's era, Krieghoff Lugers were carried as sidearms by Luftwaffe ground troops and Flak operators, and the quality of the pistols would lead to further Luftwaffe arms contracts. Fixed sights, with the "G" date code on the chamber and the early "anchor/SUHL" B-1 die stamp on the front toggle link, which is only seen on the very early Krieghoffs. Matching numbers are present on the frame, extension, takedown and safety levers, side plate, toggle links and magazine base, with "eagle/2" proofs on multiple components and an "8.82" inner diameter mark on the barrel. Lot 3453
Krieghoff P.O8 Luger
This is a fine example of a "S" code 1936 manufactured WWII Krieghoff Luger pistol. In 1936 there were approximately 4,000 Lugers manufactured by Krieghoff specifically for the Luftwaffe. The Krieghoff Luger pistols were only manufactured and sold to the Luftwaffe. This is a fairly early production Luger, and as noted, it has the two matching magazines and a very unique 1936 dated Krieghoff proofed commercial holster. The unique aspect of the holster is that it was a standard unmarked brown commercial holster that was purchased by the Krieghoff, probably for a commercial sale, and then deeply stamped the back of the holster with a large "H/Anchor/K" over the Krieghoff Suhl marking. Additionally, they stamped the lower front flap with "1936" over a small Luftwaffe "Eagle/2" acceptance proof with a single small "Winged Luftwaffe" proof on the inside of the holster similar to the standard Luftwaffe tunic badge. This small Luftwaffe proof inside the holster was shown to several Krieghoff/Luger experts who commented that they had never seen that type of proof either. The logical theory is that the holster was originally purchased by the Krieghoff factory for a commercial Krieghoff Luger, and to help satisfy their larger military contract, the holster was reproofed at the factory by the Luftwaffe inspector and included in the shipment with the military contract Lugers. The additional "Winged Luftwaffe" proof inside the holster was probably then applied by one of the Luftwaffe depot officers who was in charge for receiving/accepting the shipment of the pistols and holsters. Regardless, this is a very unique and probably one of maybe handful that ever existed. This example has the early B-2 die marked toggle that has the "H" Krieghoff Anchor "K" over "SUHL". The left point of the anchor is slightly outside the letter "H," and the right side nearly touches the anchor tip. The word "SUHL" positioned somewhat close the underside of the anchor, and it is centered directly under the anchor with the very bottom point of the anchor pointing between the letter "U and H". Additionally, it has the flat bottom on the letter "U" in Suhl. The barrel extension is marked with the early "LWaA" 1st-stage 1 early Luftwaffe acceptance proof along with the Luftwaffe test proof and small "Eagle/2" proof on the right side. The barrel underside has the bore diameter, early "Eagle/2" acceptance proof and no serial number which is correct for this early Luger. It has the typical military style serial number placement with the full serial number on the front frame and left side of the barrel extension and the last two digits on the various small parts. It has the correct early Ritzmann factory fitted brown checkered plastic grips used by the Krieghoff factory with the small fine checkered pattern with the smooth border around the edge of each grip panel. The backside of each grip has the correct mold numbers that consist of a small circled "HRS" (Herman Ritzmann & Sohne Company) and the impressed mold number "8964". The pistol has two original Krieghoff magazines; both have a nickel plated magazine body with cast aluminum base. The base is only stamped with the serial number "1457" over an inverted "Eagle/2" proof. This scarce Luger comes with a short unsigned letter that documents the previous ownership and the various collectors who have inspected this very desirable pistol.

Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co P.08 Pistol 9 mm Luger
This is an attractive example of a very scarce "PX" Krieghoff Luger pistol that is pictured and identified in Randall Gibon's "The Krieghoff Parabellum" on page 241. It is estimated that approximately 245 of these were produced in total directly after the end of WWII. The various parts, frames, barrels and barrel extensions for these pistols were actually produced some time in the last months before the end of the war; i.e. Feb-May 1945 timeframe. Then afterwards with the country in total destruction, the Krieghoff factory was strapped for money and decided to use these various parts to assemble Lugers pistols for sale to the "souvenir hungry" GI through the various stores and local PX system. Hence the collector name, "PX" Luger. These Lugers will have mostly all Krieghoff made parts with some being fitted with Mauser factory barrels as in this example. It is estimated that the first 75-100 Lugers that were assembled used toggles that still retained the Heinrich Krieghoff logo on top and after they ran out, all remaining Lugers had blank parts, as in the case of this example. The only markings on this Luger are the large serial number (128) stamped on the front end of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension along with a small "eagle/2" proof mark on the right side with a small "Eagle/135" Waffenamt on the left side of the barrel. It still retains the prewar, "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" marked extractor and safety area. There are two magazines which are the late war third model with the all blued magazine bodies, with the brown base plug with the pin through the center, marked "128" on the spine. With a correct unmarked black leather holster.

Krieghoff Heinrich Gun Co - P.08
This is an example of a rare WWII 1944 dated military contract Krieghoff P.08 Luger that is complete with two numbered matching Krieghoff magazines and a black leather Krieghoff proofed holster. By serial number, this pistol falls into the early number block of 11200 to 11400 produced in late 1944. In this early/first block of serial numbers it is estimated that only 200 were produced in total with very few examples even known today. The chamber is marked "1944" with the front toggle correctly marked with the late production C-2 style Krieghoff logo that has the smaller "C" style anchor with the slanted bottom on the "U". The left point of the anchor, slightly outside the letter "H" with the right point touching the bottom of the "K". The right side of the barrel extension has the 1st "Lwa" stage II early acceptance proof next to the stage II mid-proof next to the final acceptance proof. The underside of the barrel is marked "881/LWa2/11310" numbered in the smaller size. The right side of the breechblock has the correct Luftwaffe "eagle/2" firing proof. It is fitted with the correct late production coarse checkered black plastic grips that are unmarked on the backside. As noted, it is complete with two matching Krieghoff proofed magazines. The sides of the bodies are stamped with "fxo/eagle/37," and the bases are simply stamped with the serial number "11310" inverted over the Luftwaffe "Eagle 2" acceptance proof. It is accompanied by an unmarked black leather holster with all black stitching that is stamped with a single very faint Luftwaffe "Eagle" proof on the back inside of the holster.

Commercial Krieghoff Luger with Holster
While Krieghoff was by nature a sporting arms firm, the company never intended to sell Luger pistols to the public, and the Luftwaffe was planned to be their first and last customer for the product. That said, the military contract had much stiffer requirements for tolerances (headspacing in particular) then strictly mechanically necessary, resulting in a lot of perfectly serviceable barrel groups getting a "nein" from the Luftwaffe inspectors. Not content to leave money on the ground, Krieghoff made lemonade out of their lemons by sending out rejected pistols for public consumption. Fixed sights, with a "5-pointed star" rejection mark on the right side of the chamber, martially "eagle" proofed breechblock, commercially "crown/N" proofed barrel, extension, breechblock and frame, and a Type C Krieghoff "anchor" logo on the front toggle link. Finish is primarily blue with straw finished small parts, niter blue magazine catch and springs, and a nickel finished magazine with an alloy base numbered "10746". Also included is a black leather flap holster with no maker's marks.
